A celebration of the life and music of Townes Van Zandt

homeTOWNESfest was created to celebrate the legacy of Townes van Zandt, in his hometown of Fort Worth, annually on his birthday.

Townes Van Zandt would be 80 on March 7, 2024. Join us on March 9 and 10 as we celebrate this legend in his hometown.

Please note that your ticket purchase allows you entry on either day, or both days. Doors will open at 7 pm on Saturday, and at 1 pm on Sunday.

The weekend kicks off with "An Evening With John Lomax" on Sat, March 9, at 8 pm. Lomax is a member of the legendary family of musicologists and music documentarians and was Townes' manager for a time. John met Townes in 1965 and managed him from 1976-78. During his two years managing him, Townes first five albums were re-released, Flying Shoes was made and released, the album called Nashville Sessions was recorded and the Live at the Old Quarter album was finally issued after five years in the can. John Lomax has a wealth of knowledge regarding Townes van Zandt and is willing to share with us!

On Sunday, March 10, from 2 pm to 6 pm, the finest singer-songwriters in the area (and that’s saying something!) will gather to perform their favorite Townes tunes in one of the best listening rooms in the state. Come and soak up all the talent in the room!

Proceeds benefit the venue, Southside Preservation Hall and Rose Chapel, a 501c3 that has served the community for decades. For more info, visit the Facebook event page: homeTOWNESfest 2024.

Southside Preservation Hall and Southside Preservation Association are supported in part by a grant from Arts Fort Worth.
