SPH Presents: Concerts in the Chapel with Sam the Lion and Jonathan Ashley White

Doors 6:30pm, Show 7:30pm

What we have here is a full band Rock show in an intimate setting! This is a rare chance to hear the bands at their absolute best in a great acoustic setting. It will be a great evening. BYOB and there will be some complimentary beverages available while supplies last. As usual, there will be an open jam session after the show so bring those instruments!

Jonathan Ashley White is a singer/songwriter from Ardmore, OK. Before focusing on his solo career in 2017, JAW was a cofounding member of the indie rock band, Sons Of Strangers (Wiretap Records), as well as several punk/hardcore bands in the early ‘00s. He continues to perform throughout the region and has graced the stage of many of the Oklahoma City metro’s most treasured spots for original music, such as JJ’s Alley Bricktown Pub, the Blue Note, and The Deli. His music, including his latest release, Fumes, is available for streaming and download on digital platforms.

Spawned from the Texas tradition of roadhouses, honky-tonks, blues joints and dancehalls, Sam the Lion is as gritty, soulful and righteous as Funkytown itself. Sam was born in 2008 when friends and long-time collaborators Chris Allen Curtis and Ed Rogers decided to form a band and perform their original songs. Drummer Matthew Williams and bassist Rodger Harrison form the driving rhythm section that locks in the band’s trademark sound. Amanda Williams Ware joined in 2019 bringing her powerhouse vocals into the mix. Since then, Sam has built a following of friends and fans playing venues like Fort Worth Live, Lola’s and The Post at River East. The band’s 2023 album “Make It Stick” is available on all major platforms. samthelionband.com @samthelionband
