SPH Presents: Tipps and Obermiller Album Release Party

Doors 4pm, Show 5pm

SPH is very excited to debut the new Tipps and Obermiller recording, MacGuffin! This will be a very special night. This is a BYOB show, with complimentary beer and wine available while supplies last. There will also be a food truck available - Delicias De Guerrero. As usual, there will be a pickin' party after the show so bring those instruments!

When Hilary Tipps and Steve Obermiller met, it took no time at all for these Fort Worth, Texas songwriters to fall in love and start their lives together. Yet it was another decade of trying to create life, deal with death and build careers in teaching and nursing before they wrote their first songs together. Now they are fully invested in their passion for songwriting and performing. And now we are celebrating the release of their brand new recording, “MacGuffin”!

Though you might call them Folk or Americana, Tipps and Obermiller are not genre-specific songwriters. Just as they write about every aspect of life and living, they use every style of music to suit the song at hand. In doing so, they take the listener on a ride that will just as easily make you laugh and cry as shake your tail feathers!

Whether performing in intimate listening rooms or on festival stages, they bring a connection of energy and charm unique to a couple dedicated to each other, their music and their audience.

Americana Highways lauds, "Together they captivate the way Delaney & Bonnie once dignified music. An excellent duet with wonderful lyrical ornamentation scattered throughout their repertoire.”

Kelly Kieke, owner of The Tattler in Quitman, Texas says, “Every time Hilary and Steve walk up our 100 year old stairs they end up filling the space with an energy that you can’t ignore. Such amazing songwriters bringing their love for life and music to the stage for all of us to share.”

McLeod Nine, the Swingy, Stringy, Funky, Folky duo from Texas, plays jiggy, jazzy, gorgeous acoustic music, with roots deep in their Americana and Celtic past and a backbeat straight from the roots of swing and string-band soul. Their award-winning songwriting is front and center in their shows and draws from a deep well of musical and life experience. Gordon and Christy McLeod's music is nothing if not eclectic, spanning a wide range of musical worlds from swing and Django jazz to Americana and alternative folk, even Irish, Cajun and American fiddle tunes. Most of all, McLeod Nine want their audiences to be energized, inspired and to have fun! Christy says “We want to make sure in our shows that the next song is always something different from the last one!"

Southside Preservation Hall and Southside Preservation Association are supported in part by a grant from Arts Fort Worth.
